Kate and Stephen

Gorgeous location, adorable kids running wild, a ridiculously wonderful couple, good music, tasty food, and a great attention to detail, (including algebra problems for the guests to solve in order to find their table. You gotta love it.)
All in all, a fantastic celebration for two lovely people.
Congrats Kate and Stephen!!

Sarah and Mark

I am finally getting around to posting some photos from Sarah and Mark's wedding at The Georgetown Ballroom, (SUCH a cool venue!!!) You may remember me going on and on about the talented Sarah Severson in another post awhile back.

Sarah and Mark's wedding was full of creative touches that reflected both of their lives on the stage, (she's a singer, he's an actor.) From the AMAZING vintage-inspired movie posters that had been altered to include both of their faces, to the candles for each guest that announced they were "needed on set." In addition, their ceremony took place (appropriately) on a stage with dramatic lighting, and their Masters of Ceremony doubled as a magician.
All in all, a unique and creative event for a talented and lovely couple.

Congrats, you two!

Autumn on the farm

I decided to take a little break from the endless hours of wedding and portrait post-production work, to give an update about my work with Kurtwood Farms. (To read about that project, go here.)

After a number of shoots at Kurtwood this past summer, yesterday I had the privilege of photographing the farm during this GORGEOUS fall season. It was fantastic.
Fall is my all-time favorite time of year, but it was made even more special by spending some time out on the farm. It really is a magical place, and I find that I miss it when I am gone for too long.

Over the past few months, I have documented cow-milking, cider pressing, lots of cooking, one of the famous Sunday dinners, vegetable harvesting, berry picking, animal tending, and a cow slaughter, (which, as a carnivore, was a powerful experience to behold. However, I think that if you eat meat, you should recognize that you ARE eating an animal, and be responsible about supporting farms who raise their animals in healthy, clean, wide open spaces, and who slaughter them responsibly and with dignity. But I will get off my high horse now.)

Anyway, there will be many more Kurtwood postings on this blog, but I definitely wanted to share this set of photos with you.

Long live FALL!!!
