Autumn on the farm

I decided to take a little break from the endless hours of wedding and portrait post-production work, to give an update about my work with Kurtwood Farms. (To read about that project, go here.)

After a number of shoots at Kurtwood this past summer, yesterday I had the privilege of photographing the farm during this GORGEOUS fall season. It was fantastic.
Fall is my all-time favorite time of year, but it was made even more special by spending some time out on the farm. It really is a magical place, and I find that I miss it when I am gone for too long.

Over the past few months, I have documented cow-milking, cider pressing, lots of cooking, one of the famous Sunday dinners, vegetable harvesting, berry picking, animal tending, and a cow slaughter, (which, as a carnivore, was a powerful experience to behold. However, I think that if you eat meat, you should recognize that you ARE eating an animal, and be responsible about supporting farms who raise their animals in healthy, clean, wide open spaces, and who slaughter them responsibly and with dignity. But I will get off my high horse now.)

Anyway, there will be many more Kurtwood postings on this blog, but I definitely wanted to share this set of photos with you.

Long live FALL!!!

Lisa and Mike

If you haven't figured it out by now, I have a special place in my heart for weddings with crazy dancing. The September wedding of Lisa and Mike definitely fit the "crazy dancing" category, and the star of the show? The bride's father.
See for yourself below.

Congrats to the FANTASTIC and FUN Lisa and Mike!

(And a big thumbs up for Melissa Parker of Amazing Events, who did a fabulous job with coordination and to Katie Cunningham from Dogwood Floral Design Studio, who put together stunning arrangements.)

Todd and Tim

There are too many great things about Todd and Tim to list here. Besides being generous, thoughtful, fun and fabulous, they are crazy about one another and they planned a fantastic weekend to celebrate their commitment.

Their friends and family gathered at Parson's Gardens on a Saturday in late August for a delicious English-style tea party, catered by the always-great Herban Feast. The party continued the next day during Todd and Tim's commitment ceremony at Thornewood Castle. These guys attended to every detail and the event was gorgeous.

I got a little carried away picking photos for this post, so I wasn't able to include any shots from the tea party, but hopefully the shots below will give you a good feel of Todd and Tim's celebration. :)
