A summer dinner on the farm

Okay, yes, I know this is backwards. I realize that I did a post back in October about autumn at Kurtwood Farms, and that it was timely since it was, in fact, autumn. But here it is, late winter, and I am finally getting around to posting some summer photos from my work with Kurtwood Farms.

I do this for two reasons:

First, if you have been following my work with this job, you know that the Sunday Cookhouse Dinners at Kurtwood are wonderful and renowned and yet, in all my excitement about the colors of fall, I forgot to share some images from one of these nights.

Second, aren't you just SO ready for spring right about now??? I know I am and have been since, oh, I don't know....October?! Anyway. These photos are a great pick-me-up because they remind me of what's to come. Like, for example, berries and squash blossoms and warm days with rose wine. And tomatoes. Lots and lots and LOTS of tomatoes.

So, dive in and remember that we don't have too much longer to wait for short sleeves and warm evenings.

(Note: the chef pictured below is the very talented, Morgan, who has since gone back to Portland. These days, the regular chef on the farm is the fantastic, Tyler, from fabulous Spring Hill in my 'hood, West Seattle.)

Three things:

1. Your photo are so gorgeous!

2. I feel hungry now

3. Never thought I'd feel this way - but these photos make me really homesick for Eastern WA. Maybe I'll plant a garden in my back yard and call it good.

Beautiful, Clare! OK, so what's the measure of good food photos? My mouth is watering, and I just had a sandwich 2 hours ago. The photos are GORGEOUS, as usual. I am amazed how you capture the freshness of the vegetables, the vibrant colors, the "I can reach out and touch it" views. I really want to go to one of those suppers. And I'd love to know what some of those delicious looking foods are. Thanks for sharing! I'm ready for Spring and Summer! Love you.

I love love love Kurtwood Farms, and I haven't been there in about a year! Springtime and summer really are the best times to visit; the farm is so beautiful and vital during those seasons. Anyway, great pics!
