a little of this, a little of that

Well, it was a very busy and eventful June. Here's a glimpse of what's been happening....

Early in June, Thanksgiving came to my studio when I did a photo shoot for NCGA, a business services cooperative for food co-ops throughout the USA, (like one of my personal favorites, PCC!)
The person who found and hired me was actually a student at the Gulf Shores workshop I co-taught this past April. I love when things like that work out!

Immediately after the Thanksgiving shoot, I photographed a vegan ice cream book for one of my all-time favorite publishers, Ten Speed Press. Despite the fact that we were working with ice cream, which can be really tricky due to it's meltiness, this shoot was SO FUN. My fantastic-beyond-words food stylist, Julie, made everything look absolutely beautiful and delicious. I don't think a cookbook shoot has ever been so smooth and easy.

The past couple weeks have been devoted to one of my regular clients, Norm Thompson. I have shot their annual holiday food catalog for the past 3 years and, while it's a lot of work, it's always a good time-- in no small part to my food stylist, Patty Wittmann, and the incredible art director, Amanda.

So, what now? Well, I have several more single-subject cookbook shoots coming up and some travel planned. Also, I am teaching 3 day-long workshops in August. My Natural Light Food Photography class and the Food Styling and Photography class are both happening again on August 3rd and 4th, along with a brand new class on August 24th, called Playing in the Studio. I added this class due to the requests I had gotten from former students asking for a time that they can come in to the studio, play with props, and continue practicing what they've learned. This is a perfect time for students to work on their own projects, if they choose to do so. There isn't any formal instruction in this class, (which is why you need to have taken a previous workshop with me), but I will be there to help and answer questions.
Check out all these workshops HERE.

Hope you are all enjoying your summer and staying cool!
